Fulbright

In May of 2015 I had the honor of representing the Embassy on the Fulbright program's selection panel.  It was an amazing experience!  I got to meet the exemplary candidates for this year - so impressive and inspiring.  People from many different fields apply - artists (poets, filmmakers, musicians, writers), scientists (biology, botany, chemistry, geography), political scientists, and historians.  It was fascinating to hear all the areas of research and pursuit.

The Fulbright program is one of the important exchange programs that is sponsored by the U.S. government. It's also one of the many reasons I'm glad I'm a Public Diplomacy officer.  Exchange programs are so important for learning more about each other's culture - and with greater knowledge comes greater understanding - an important step in working together to make the world a better place.

In addition to learning about this year's candidates, I also had an opportunity to get to know my fellow panelists - all past Fulbrighters.  They are an impressive group and I am honored to have worked with them.
